After a way-too-big breakfast this morning I stepped on my scale and was very displeased by the number that came up. Now, to be fair, I'm a size 3 and can wear a bikini without fussing over trying to hide the bouncy back rolls. But that description does suit just about every woman in my family and I plan on breaking the cycle! So I decided to get back into the rhythm of regular gym visits... and this time, I'm also going to train to run a half marathon (at least) next spring.
First run in a long time today... a mile at 5.5 mph and then a second mile alternating running/walking.
Not even close to the goal, but it's just the first workout. And I can't pretend I don't feel great after it ;)
So after I did this workout I came home, and just to let the "I need to stick with this" message really sink in, I decided to watch Supersize Me (I actually have never seen this before.) It's still playing as I'm writing this post and I have to be honest, I want to punch this guy in the face. "When is it going to become socially acceptable to hecter fat people? If it's acceptable to yell at smokers, why not overweight people?" That's such bad logic. There are illnesses and imbalances that can cause obesity and the last thing those people need is being told that it's all their fault. There is no condition that forces you to pick up that disgusting cigarette and inhale tar and the same chemicals used to make nuclear bombs. I hate it when documentaries make blanket statements where no exception can be possible. I personally think this is one of the biggest problems with education. We're shows the world in black and white when really there's so much gray area.

ReplyDeleteWhen someone picks up a cigarette, they know the dangers. Often with obesity, its uncontrollable!
